Evaporative Cooling Integrated with Solid Desiccant Systems: A Review

Evaporative cooling technology (ECT) has been deemed as an alternative to the conventional vapor-compression air conditioning system for dry climates in recent years due its simple structure and low operating cost. Generally speaking, ECT includes two types of different technologies, direct evaporative (DEC) indirect (IEC). Both technologies can theoretically reduce temperature wet-bulb outdoor air. The major difference between these is that DEC will introduce extra moisture supply while IEC not. enhanced IEC, Maisotsenko-cycle (M-cyle) even bring down dew point temperature. integrated with solid desiccant systems, i.e., desiccant-assisted (SDECT), could make applicable a wider range weather conditions, e.g., high humidity. In this paper, development various (ECT), material integration SDECT, were thoroughly reviewed respect their configuration, optimization unit improvement. Furthermore, modeling techniques simulating SDECT pros cons also reviewed. Potential opportunities research recommendations indicated, which include improving M-cycle developing novel optimizing water consumption rate operation strategy system. This review paper indicated be potential replacement vapor-compressed applied hot humid environments proper arrangements.
